Exploring Caves in Asia

Any cave explorers out there? You might want to include Asia on your list of destinations for cave exploration. Where might you explore?

Malaysia

on the island of Sarawak there are two caves that are considered to be the biggest in the world: Clearwater and Wind Cave. There are more than 300 kilometers of cave passages. People will be able to see large limestone formations, as well as bats and other species living in the darkness.

Philippines

On the island of Palawan you'll find the Tabon Cave. It got its name after anthropologists found a man who was said to have lived there 22,000 years ago. It's just one of 29 caves that can be explored in this part of the Archipelago.

India

One of the best caves to see there is the Borra Caves, located in Vishakaptnam, India, and famous for millions of years old stalactite and stalagmite formations. Supposedly, these caves get their name from a formation inside the caves that some say looks like the human brain, which is known as "borra" in Telugu, the local language.

China

Cave explorers should definitely travel to China and check out a place called Dunhuang, which has more than 400 caves. Inside, you'll see a few of more than 45,000 frescos, 415 painted statues and five wooden structured caves.
