NYC Travel Show
Here's a travel show you can't miss. The 2008 New York Times Travel Show Presented by American Express will be held February 29 through March 2 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City. With over 500 exhibitors, you are certain to find some travel ideas to meet your needs. What's even better, you will find special travel discounts, as well as a chance to win trips.
Not only will you have the opportunity to visit travel booths from cruise lines, cities and other tour operators, but there will also be live music from around the world, and, my favorite, the Taste of the World Pavilion, with tastings and tips for culinary travelers. (FYI, if you're interested in culinary travel, you could also check out our website page on Cooking Vacations). You will also get the opportunity to watch a live cooking competition, as well as hear presentations on wine tours around the world.
Other travel pavilions include:
Spa Pavilion where you can visit exhibits from spa resorts around the world, with discounts and packages, and, again my favorite, on-site treatments.
GLBT Travel Pavilion sponsored by PlanetOut Inc. with exhibits from travel companies catering to gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people.
And, while you're there, you might want to attend book signings with leading travel authors.
Admission to the show is $15, with a $5 discount if tickets are purchased with an American Express Card. Children under 18 are admitted free. Show hours are Saturday, March 1, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday, March 2, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. You can purchase advance tickets by going to nytimes.com/travelshow.
