Wine and Chocolate Events for February

Red Wine and Chocolate Tours

You do know red wine and chocolates go together, right? Well, it does. Very well. A little too well.

But, with the month of romance upon us, I thought I'd mention a few "Red Wine and Chocolate Festival" places and dates:

Red Wine & Chocolate
Chelan, Washington
February 08 - February 17, 2008

Lake Chelan is an up and coming wine area in Washington state. Why not put their wines to the test with a self-guided tour pairing the area wines with chocolates? During the weekends of Feb. 8 to Feb. 17 each winery in the area will have chocolates available for a wine pairing taste. Lake Chelan lies at the southern end of North Cascades National Park. You can pick up a tour guide at the Lake Chelan Visitors Center, or by going to http://www.lakechelanwinevalley.com/index.php?page_id=221

Red Wine & Chocolate
February 16 - February 17, 2008
Yakima, Washington

Yakima is another wine region in Washington. For this tour each participating winery pairs chocolate desserts with their red wines. You can purchase a Reserve Ticket for $20 which includes a signature 15 oz. Wine Yakima Valley wine glass and tastings and tours not available to the general public. You can purchase your tickets in advance by going to http://www.wineyakimavalley.org/events/eventsD.asp?evID=18

Austin Chocolate Festival
March 7 - March 9, 2008
Austin, Texas

Okay, this one's in March, but it sounded good so I'm going to include it now. This chocolate festival includes up to 25 vendors and includes chocolates, bakeries, patisseries, restaurants, hotels, resorts. And, yes, the vendors will be handing out samples, so do plan a nice walk afterwards. This year's festival will be held at Arthur Murray Dance Studio in Austin (2700 W Anderson Ln # 504). Yeah, that sounds weird to me, too, but, the dance studio's one of the sponsors. Just be sure you don't drip any chocolate on the dance floor. The Austin Chocolate Festival benefits Susan G. Komen For the Cure.
