Cheese Festivals! That's right, cheese!

Do you love cheese as much as I do?  Then you ought to know about some cheese festivals happening soon around the country.  It would make a nice little getaway.  A little cheese.  A little wine.  Anyway, here are some cheese festivals in the next couple of months.  Hopefully you'll find some near your area which would make a great day trip:

Labor Day Weekend
Aug. 30, 31st and Sept. 1
Amish Country Cheese Festival
Arthur, Illinois

Arthur is located 10 miles west of Interstate 57 off exit 203 in East Central Illinois.  Events include Cheese Eating Nationals, Cheese Curling Championship, a circus, and the Rat Race 5k Run/walk.  There will also be a free cheese giveaway.

Saturday, September 13th, 2008
Monroe Cheese Festival
Monroe, New York

Events include kite flying, dance presentations, Martial Arts presentation and the Monroe Idol Competition.

Saturday, September 20, 2008
4th Annual Cream Cheese Festival
Downtown Lowville, New York

Why cream cheese?  And why Lowville?  Because Lowville is the home of the world's
largest cream cheese manufacturing plant at Kraft Foods.  Hey, at least something's still manufactured in this country, right? Events include a tractor pull, giant bowling game, cream cheese toss contest, and the "Fill Your Friend's Face Contest."

Friday, October 17, 2008
Wine & Cheese Festival
Greenwich, CT

From 7 to 9:30 p.m., at Richards, 359 Greenwich Avenue.  Supports the Orchestra's Young People’s Concerts for students in Greenwich public and independent schools.

How much fun can you have with cheese?  Just as this guy:
