Spend Halloween in an Eerie Swamp
Want a really scary Halloween adventure? Why not spend a dark night in a blackwater swamp? A real blackwater swamp, not one you'd find at Knot's Berry Farm.
Cypress Gardens outisde of Charlston, South Carolina is having a special "Halloween in the Swamp" night on Friday, Oct. 24, and Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008. For those of you who aren't familiar with Cypress Gardens, it's a blackwater swamp with walking trails and boats you can rent. During the day the cypress and tupelo trees reflect in the swamp water. But, at night? Well, you have to see for yourself, don't you. Oh, and yes, there are alligators.
"Halloween in the Swamp" is from 7:30PM to 10:30PM each night of the event. Admission is $10 for adult, $5 for children 6-12, and free for children 5 and under. Admission includes Haunted Walking Trails, a campfire, marshmallow roast, kids' fun house, and outdoor music. Food will be for sale, and special Haunted Boat Rides through the swamp will be available for an additional $5 per person. For more info to go CypressGardens.info and click on "Events."
I visited Cypress Gardens last May and found it pretty eerie. But, then, I had never visited a swamp, and the thought of alligators really freaked me out, though I never did see one. But, I did take this shot. Now, imagine it at night...
